Lanka Hospitals has been appointed as the Official Healthcare Partner for the 11th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards to be held in Colombo from 3rd - 5th June this year. The signing of the MOU took place at the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau on 25 May 2010, where Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Sri Lanka, handed over the partnership to Mr. Lakith Peiris, CEO of Lanka Hospitals.

"It is an honor for Lanka Hospitals to be chosen as the Official Healthcare provider for the IIFA Weekend 2010," said Lakith Peiris, Chief Executive Officer of Lanka Hospitals. "We look forward to creating one of the most exciting partnerships between an international event and a healthcare organization in our inimitable spirit to set upon the task of making Sri Lanka the miracle of Asia. The primary reason for associating with the event is that we too, as a public-quoted company whose controlling shares are owned by the government, have harnessed our resources in becoming a catalyst in positioning Sri Lanka as a competitive nation on par with international standards.

Therefore this association is a result of the merging of the vision and goal of both our entities."

According to Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Sri Lanka, "Support from the private sector is essential to make this project a success and we are truly appreciative of the efforts taken by companies such as Lanka Hospitals to partner this event and provide us with much needed assistance."

"The agreement between Lanka Hospitals and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) includes healthcare and treatment for the celebrities, guests and officials involved with the organizing of the IIFA event. This would include onsite medical services and mobile medical hubs at all locations including the Sugathadasa Indoor and Outdoor Stadiums, the Cinnamon Grand, the Sinhalese Sports Club and the BMICH, as well as ambulance services stationed at every venue throughout the events," said Dr Wimal Karandagoda, Director Medical Services of Lanka Hospitals.

Dileep Mudadeniya, Managing Director, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau said, "Sri Lanka Tourism anticipates IIFA 2010 to bring about not only a vast growth for the tourism industry but also benefit Sri Lanka in terms of infrastructure and economic development. Excellent medical care is paramount to the event's success and Lanka Hospitals will play a critical role in ensuring that our guests receive the best medical care available. We are proud to partner with Lanka Hospitals as the weekend's official health care providers as we are aware that they share our nation-minded values which will be essential to make this event a success."

Lanka Hospitals in the medium term has been an icon of Sri Lanka's economic and industrial maturity. Thus, it is only pertinent that it should contribute to the nation in a manner in which the national benefit is pervasive. As a world-class healthcare provider, it is the role of Lanka Hospitals to propagate high standard healthcare across the nation and it is in this light, that the Company is cascading its service offer through its association with the IIFA - to provision superior healthcare to a wider target audience at value for money.
