IIFA in Dubai: Razzmatazz in Desert

IndiaGlitz

The IIFA Weekend and Awards are going to be held in Dubai this year from June 14th – June 19th. The preparations are on in full swing and Bollywood is eager to give a taste of its revelry to the fast-paced-life of the Emirate City. Superstars like Salman Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan are slated to perform before a sold-out crowd. The last IIFA were held in the Dutch capital city Amsterdam where Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Parineeta was premiered and won rave reviews-n-accolades from the audience.
Amitabh Bachchan who is the brand ambassador of IIFA is busy looking into the nitty gritties of hosting a show such as this. He would also like to make a few amends, considering the fiasco that took place in ZEE Awards a couple of years ago in Dubai (The last awards show that were held there) when his ‘close pal’ Amar Singh was miffed with the organizers Morani Brothers for giving a back row seat to Amitabh Bachchan. Shahrukh Khan intervened on behalf of Moranis but the irrepressible Amar Singh had given it back to King Khan. Bachchan would make sure that the celebrity egos are kept under control and everyone gets their due recognition. And hopefully there are enough front row seats for the inflated star tantrums to sink into.
This year, things will be made more exciting by giving the viewers to choose best male debut male and female. All the viewers have to do is type ‘award’ and the option (01, 02….10) and SMS it to 7827 or dial 19044244424 followed by their chosen option. The nominees for the male debutant award alongwith their option codes are Abhay Deol (01), Kunal Khemu (02), Shiny Ahuja (03), Shreyas Talpade (04) and Mohit Ahlawat (05). The nominees for the female debutant award are Chitragandha Singh (06), Minissha Lamba (07), Isha Sharwani (08), Sneha Ullal (09) and Vidya Balan (10). Voting will start from 5th June. The last day to send in your entry is 15th June latest by 11:59 p.m. IIFA Weekend and Awards will be showed at Star Plus on June 25th at 8 p.m. (IST).
